Indians Drop Games To Malta
The Poplar Indians fell in both home basketball contests against Malta on Friday, Feb. 13.
In the boys’ contest, the Mustangs won by an 80-62 final. The first half was close as Malta held just a 29-25 advantage. Malta broke loose with 31 points in the third quarter to gain a 60-36 lead.
Top scorers for the Indians were Ryder Olson with 17, Chasen Pribbernow with 15 and Dane Moran with 11 points. Chance Pribbernow and Stephen Smoker scored five points each. Also scoring were Anthony Youngman with three, River Olson with two, Bostyn Azure with two and Wilder Bearcub with two.
Malta’s girls’ basketball team earned a 67-36 victory.
Malta took a 27-20 halftime lead. The M-ettes increased the gap to 46-29 in the third quarter. Malta then added 21 points in the fourth quarter.
Leading Poplar were Frankie Gourneau with 10 and Journey Gourneau with nine points.
