Poplar Boys Defeat Fairview, 69-44

Poplar’s boys’ basketball team scored a District 2B victory over Fairview, 69-44, on Friday, Jan. 30.

The Indians led 16-12 at the end of the first quarter and 26-23 at the half.

Poplar outscored Fairview 15-8 in the third quarter for a 41-31 advantage. Wilder Bearcub scored seven points for the Indians in the period.

Poplar put the contest away with 28 points in the final period. Chasen Pribbernow scored eight points in the period. Hitting three-pointers in the period were Bearcub, Ryder Olson, Anthony Youngman and Houston Eder.

Leading Poplar’s scoring attack were Bearcub with 20 and Chasen Pribbernow with 14 points.

Also scoring were Olson with nine, Dane Moran with seven, Chance Pribbernow with six, Youngman with three, Bostyn Azure with three, Juanito Garfield with two and Xhaiden Bull Chief with two.

Elliot Thompson scored 20 points for Fairview.

In the girls’ game, Fairview fought off Poplar by a 49-46 final.

Fairview held a 20-16 halftime advantage.

The Indians scored 16 points in the third quarter to grab a 32-30 lead.

Fairview, however, tallied 19 points in the fourth period to take the league victory.

The Indians will host Wolf Point in conference action on Friday, Feb. 6.
