New MSU Extension Agent Hired For Roosevelt County

A man with a great deal of experience will start duties as Roosevelt County’s new MSU Extension agent starting on Monday, Feb. 2.

Roosevelt County has been operating with only one Extension agent since Ardis Oelkers retired in September 2023. She retired after 34 years of service.

Michael Mulvey, who is originally from Ireland, is coming to the area after serving as a special assistant to the president for strategic involvement at the University of Providence.

Mulvey holds a PhD in school systems and data, a masters in education degree and a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management.

His duties as Extension agent will include family and consumer science as well as community development. He will be involved in the county’s 4-H programs.

“I’m really excited,” Extension agent Wendy Becker said of Roosevelt County’s office having a full staff. “It will be nice. I think he will be a great addition.”
