Lions Lose Against Scobey

The Lustre Lions dropped both home basketball games against Scobey in District 3C action on Saturday, Jan. 17.

In a game involving two undefeated teams, Scobey’s boys downed Lustre by a 6448 final.

The Spartans led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter and by a 33-21 half-time score.

Lustre closed the margin to 44-36 during the third quarter.

Top scorers for the Lions were Prestyn Klatt with 18 and Cam Reddig with 10.

Also scoring were Joel Reddig with seven, Johnslee Pierre with six, Diek Olfert with six and Hadden Olfert with one.

Leading Scobey were John Carney with 14, Kolten Machart with 12 and Cooper Axtman with 11 points.

In the girls’ contest, Scobey came away with a 45-37 victory.

The Lions enjoyed a good start as they led 13-9 at the end of the first quarter and 22-21 at the half. Kencia Brown scored 11 points for Lustre during the first half.

Scobey outscored the Lions 14-7 in the third quarter to take the lead.

K. Brown finished with 19 points to lead the Lions.

Also scoring were Lauryn Holzrichter with eight, Samantha Neufeld with six, Hannah Brown with two and Lauren Fast with two.

Chloe Handran and Emery Rouse each scored 10 points for the Spartans.
