Daines Helps Montanans Recover More Than $50 Million From Federal Government

 

U.S. Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., has announced that his staff helped return more than $50 million from the federal government to Montanans in 2025, closed hundreds of cases for constituents and attended thousands of meetings and events throughout the state. Over 95 percent of the recovered money was from the Internal Revenue Service.

“Serving Montana is an honor and a privilege. I’m proud of our dedicated team and their service to our constituents. Their work quite literally paid off for the people of Montana,” said Daines. Specifically, Montanans received the following from federal agencies: $52,007,666.49 from the Internal Revenue Service $755,261 from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs $418,455 from the Small Business Administration $300,972 from the U.S. Department of Education $91,042 from the Social Security Administration $77,240 from the U.S. Forest Service $56,637 from the Office of Personnel Management $23,185 from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service $22,438 from the U.S. Department of the Treasury $18,298 from the Health Resources and Services Administration $10,000 from the National Guard $3,150 from the U.S. Department of Justice $2,237 from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services $2,166 from the Railroad Retirement Board $2,000 from the U.S. Postal Service In addition to recovering money for hardworking Montanans, Daines’ office worked on 1,122 casework messages from constituents and worked on 639 cases, including a quarter of veterans-related cases. Daines’ staff also attended 2,170 meetings and events in Montana on behalf of Sen. Daines in 2025.
