School Board Votes To Open Coaching Positions

The Culbertson School District Board met in regular session on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Trustees present were Chris Petersen, chair; Wendy Becker, Amber Fox and Lisa Steppler. Representatives were Nicole Simonsen, Mike Olson and Lora Finnicum. Visitors were recognized.

Reports were presented. The combined K-12 winter music concert was held and went well. District honor band and choir is scheduled for Jan. 26 in Glasgow with 26 students participating. Science fair is scheduled for Feb, 12. If anyone is interested in judging, contact Tiffany Nielsen. Schoolhouse IT may be recommending an upgrade to internet speed.

Policies 8200, 8205, 8210 and 2700 were approved on second reading.

Lynda Cosmano was approved for hire as custodian, pending background check. Kylie Bergum was approved as a guest teacher, pending background check.

The athletic committee met to discuss the coach hiring process. A motion was approved to open all coaching positions, with comment given on communicating to coaches the rationale for this policy.

A motion from Froid School regarding district land transfer was denied.

Policies 2161, 2161-P(3), 3110 and 1700-F(1), were approved after first reading.

Chair recessed meeting at 6:47 p.m. to executive session for superintendent evaluation and reconvened at 7:50 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 6:30 p.m.
