TEB Approves Officers, Commissioners
The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board held its regular meeting Nov. 24.
The Credit Committee’s request was approved for the Finance Committee to open $250,000 CD’s as needed with Independence Bank.
Donations were approved for the following categories: Community Organizations, $20,000; Sundance, $7,000; Churches, $15,000; Community Activities, $3,000; Tribal Elves, $5,000; Poplar Wild West Days, $1,000; Poplar Saddle Club Rodeo, $1,000 and Contingency, $8,000, for a total of $60,000.
The board approved the Billings area budget Tribal Health Priority list, with mental health/behavioral health and alcohol/substance abuse as the top priorities.
The board approved the revision and adoption of the updated Community Hall and Cultural Center Policies and Procedures, effective immediately.
Macon Construction was approved for a change order for the Frazer Pump Station Access Road Project, under contract #A18AV01097, in the amount of $30,900, to raise the elevation from 1993 to 1996 with appropriate consultation of the Tribal Executive Board.
The board voted to approve the FY 2025 carryover funds for the Fish and Game Account 8277 in the amount of $9,794.50.
FY 2025 carryover funds for the Branch of Corrections were approved for accounts 3256 through 3259 in the estimated amount of $5,562,361.93.
The board voted to amend Resolution #31-1288-2022-12, removing Gerald Flores as DES deputy, and Removing Dana Buckles as TERC chairman and appointing Andrew Youpee as DES deputy #2, and adding Boy Youngman and Austin Spotted Bird as alternate deputies and Barry Big Horn as TERC chairman.
The Fort Peck Tribal Court administrator was approved to update two bailiff positions and have human resources reclassify positions.
Vernice Chopper was approved to be on the Rocky Mountain Tribal Leader Committee Health Subcommittee as representative for the Fort Peck Tribes.
The Human Resource Department was approved to reclassify the commodity food distribution clerical/ secretary receptionist job description due to the wage scale rating.
The board voted to approve the new Wolf Point Housing commissioners in Nadine Adams and Terrence Hamilton to represent the Wolf Point Community.
The board voted to authorize a letter to be signed by the chairman on behalf of the Fort Peck Tribes and authorize the chairman/vice chairman to sign the letter in support for the Brockton School District.
Charlie Headdress was replaced with Adrian Spotted Bird on the Invasive Species Council.
The board voted to approve newly selected PCO officers: chairman, Shantre Escarcega; vice chairman, Lamoiya Garfield; treasurer, Kristian Azure and secretary, Hillary Gourneau.
Robyn Baker and Sheila Spotted Bull were approved as the newly selected housing commissioners for the poplar area.
The board voted to honor the family of former chairman Spike Bighorn with $500 and a star quilt for his years of services to the Fort Peck Tribes .
TEB is the duly elected body representing the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Reservation and is empowered to act on behalf of the Tribes. All actions shall be adherent to provisions set forth in the 1960 Constitution and By-Laws. The next regular meeting is set for Dec. 8.
