Brockton Drops Close Match
Froid/Lake fought off Brockton in five sets during conference volleyball play in Brockton on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
The Red Hawks edged Brockton by a 25-13, 25-7, 2426, 18-25, 15-10 final.
In the deciding set, the visiting Red Hawks fell behind 8-3 until the serving of Laytyn Davidson closed the margin to 8-7.
After Brockton scored a point for a 9-7 advantage, Froid/Lake struck for seven straight points to grab a 14-9 lead. The ace serving of Isabelle Nordwick and net play of Jordyn Breuer led the way.
The Warriors survived one match point, but Froid/Lake then won by a 15-10 final.
In the first set, the Red Hawks used the net play of Nordwick and Breuer to earn a 20-4 advantage.
Brockton battled back with a kill by Marlene Fish and an ace by Tatawna Big Eagle.
The Red Hawks scored on a tip by Alley Jensen, an ace by Avery Johnson and a kill by Joelle Davidson down the stretch for the 25-7 victory.
In the third set, the Red Hawks gained a 23-18 lead on a kill by J. Davidson and aces by Nordwick.
Another kill by J. Davidson put the margin at 24-21, but Brockton accounted for the final five points for a 26-24 win. The serving of DeMarrias was a highlight for the Warriors.
Brockton used the net play of Fish and Taylor Cummins to take a 21-15 advantage in the fourth set. A kill by Raykira Track and two aces by Danica Bull Calf put the Warriors ahead 24-17.
After a kill by Nordwick for the Red Hawks, Brockton earned the next point for a 25-18 win to force a fifth set.
