Wolves Put Up Good Battle In Plentywood
Wolf Point’s volleyball team put up a good fight but lost at Plentywood by a 25-19, 16-25, 24-26, 24-26, margin on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The Wolves earned an 18-14 lead in the opening set on a kill by Ma’Kenzie Jackson and an ace by Maia Kent. The serving of Jackson led Wolf Point to a 23-18 advantage.
After a kill by Butterfly Lindsay put the margin at 24-19, the Wolves ended the set with an ace by Addy Smith.
In the second set, the Wolves trailed early but pulled to 22-16 on a pair of kills by Jackson. Plentywood, however, went on to earn a 25-16 win.
Down by a 20-19 margin in the third set, the Wolves gained the lead on a kill by McKenzie Rodenberg and an ace by McKinlee Paulson. Cali Gorder then served an ace for a 23-22 advantage.
The Wildcats battled back to take the third set by a 26-24 final.
Wolf Point grabbed a 20-17 advantage on a kill by Smith and a tip by Jackson in the fourth set. An ace by Jackson produced a 22-19 lead.
With the set deadlocked at 24-24, the Wildcats scored the final two points.
Leaders for Plentywood included Vera Kukowski with 22 kills and four aces, Keira Kelm with 12 kills and Taya Tommerup with 34 assists.
The Wolves will play at Poplar on Thursday, Oct. 1, and at Malta on Saturday, Oct. 3.
