District Judge Sentenced Defendants

Stuart Murray Double was sentenced for four counts, including one felony, during a hearing in Roosevelt County District Court in front of District Judge Benjamin Fosland on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Double received a threeyear deferred of imposition sentence for criminal possession of dangerous drugs. He was fined $1,000 for the charge.

Sentences for misdemeanors included a sixmonth suspended sentence and a $275 fine for criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, a sixmonth suspended sentence and $750 fine for driving under the influence and a $250 fine for operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance.

The sentences are to run concurrently.

The charges of driving without a valid drivers license and speeding were dismissed.

Roosevelt County Attorney Thomas Bleicher said, “Mr. Double has been very cooperative the whole time.”

Defense attorney Sally Kay Hickok added, “I wish everybody was as good as Mr. Double.”

In a statement to the judge, Double told him, “I apologize for getting into this stupid trouble. You will never hear me in trouble again.”

In addition, a disposition hearing was held for Kristy Daugherty. In late August, Daugherty admitted to violating the conditions of her probation by gambling or entering a casino.

Judge Fosland reimposed her five-year suspended sentence. Daugherty received three days of jail time credit and no credit for street time. Fosland ordered that if probation and parole officials find it necessary, Daugherty could be required to be sent for treatment.
