Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

Aug. 24

Deputies assisted ambulance services, the Wolf Point Police Department and the Montana Highway Patrol after a report of a pedestrian/vehicle incident on Fourth Avenue North and U.S. Highway 2. A juvenile female was struck by a vehicle and she was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The Montana Highway Patrol took over the investigation.

A female from Wolf Point called dispatch about an order of protection being violated. She reported that she was receiving texts from an unknown number on behalf of her ex-boyfriend. Deputy found the owner of the third-party phone and advised the third party not to have contact with the victim.

Aug. 25

At about 2:05 a.m., a deputy on patrol observed a large amount of smoke coming from the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. The Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice assisted. It was observed that a door was propped open with a floor mat and a small window appeared to be broken. Fire departments from Poplar and Culbertson responded to the scene. The fire marshal is investigating.

Deputies responded after a male reported a juvenile son pulled a knife on him. FPTDLJ arrested the juvenile on separate charges.

Aug. 26

While patrolling the Culbertson area, deputies received a report of a missing adult female from relatives. Deputies saw the female’s vehicle at a motel in Culbertson and made contact with her.

Aug. 28

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ, the Wolf Point Fire Department and Wolf Point Police Department when a shed near the Town Pump was on fire. DES was notified about chemicals possibly being put into the air.

Deputies responded to the Poplar River Casino’s parking lot where a female reported she was assaulted by a male. The suspect wasn’t present at the scene when law enforcement arrived.

Aug. 29

Deputies responded to Fort Kipp tribal housing for a report of an assault. A female she was assaulted. Another adult female was arrested and taken to tribal jail.

Aug. 30

Two deputies and FPTDLJ responded to the Baptist church in Poplar of a report of three males carrying machetes in the area. One juvenile male was arrested on authority of a warrant and transported to the BIA juvenile detention center.
