The Scobey City Council held its regular Tuesday meeting on Aug. 11. Mayor Morgan Lekvold was in attendance, along with City Attorney Samantha Howard, council members Gregory Crowder and Brain French, Clerk/ Treasurer Sonya Southland, public works director Steve Barreth and fire chief Wyatt Wilder.

Following the approval of the meeting agenda, council members discussed discrepancies between construction related city ordinances and inspection standards set by the State of Montana. Howard said she would draft updated ordinance language to bring the city in line with state norms and present it to the council.

A resolution was passed approving two containers for use by the baseball and softball programs. Turnkey agreements with program organizers are in the works. The final cost is not known, but the council approved an expenditure not to exceed $25,000. Baseball and softball will be responsible for customizing the containers for use.

The council unpacked a recent water tank inspection report. Barreth said it looks like a cleaning will likely be needed. No action was taken.

Barreth provided the public works report, which included asphalt patching and maintenance at the baseball fields.

The pool manager’s report stated that the new heaters are working well. Aug. 27 will be the last day at the pool.
