Rodeo Fans Watch Action In Wolf Point
Area rodeo fans were treated to a full slate of professional rodeo action during the Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede on Thursday through Saturday.
LaMerrill Winters of Benjamin, Utah, was the winner in bareback riding with a score of 84.5 Leighton LaFromboise, Helena, placed second at 83.5 and Jake Kesl of Tendoy, Idaho, took third with a score of 83. Jordan’s Kelly Murnion placed sixth with a score of 76.5.
Reno McGill of Gardnerville, N.Y., and Miles City’s Josh Davison tied for top honors in saddle bronc riding with scores of 83. Alan Gobert, Browning, was right behind with a score of 82.5 and Sage Newman, Melstone, took fourth at 82.
Jake Lockwood of Volborg earned first place in bull riding with a score of 83.5. Brody Nelson of Minot, N.D., placed second with an 81.
Winning top honors for tiedown roping was Trey Young of Dupree, S.D., with a time of 9.6 seconds. Quinn Mc-Queary, Polson, took second at 10.2 and Belgrade’s Weston Hersel was third at 10.4. Poplar’s J.C. Crowley placed sixth with a time of 11.1 seconds.
Charlie (Rope) Smith of Killdeer, N.D., and Jake Nelson of Whitehall tied for first in steer wrestling with times of 4.3 seconds. Scott Kleeman of Killdeer, N.D., and Miles City’s Cole Burman finished third at 5.2 seconds.
In team roping, Talan Cummins and Casey Cummins of Lodge Grass won with a time of 5.6 seconds. Dustin Bird, Cut Bank, and James Cole, Harlem, tied for second with Clint Gorrell of Beach, N.D., and Nevada Berquist of Piedmont, S.D., with times of 5.8 seconds.
Sierra Lee of Rhame, N.D., won top honors in breakaway roping with a time of 2.6 seconds. Tying for second at 2.7 seconds were Teddi Morman of Glen Ullin, N.D., Josey Murphy of Keachi, La., And Avery Landry of Arnaudville, La.
Emilee Pauley of Wall, S.D., had a time of 17.46 seconds for first place in barrel racing. Brittney Hawley of Surprise, Ariz., placed second at 17.56 and Kally Sorenson of Watford City, N.D., took third at 17.66 seconds. Wolf Point’s Jill Ferdina placed 10th at 18.12 seconds.
