Yellowjackets Drop Close Game To Glasgow
Despite a strong effort, the Wolf Point Yellowjackets fell at home against Glasgow, 9-8, in legion baseball action on Wednesday, June 3.
Behind by a 6-3 margin entering the bottom of the fifth inning, the Yellowjackets tied the game when Reed Garfield scored on an error and then Max Rees accounted for a RBI single.
After Rees crossed the plate on a balk call, Maxton Moran scored on an error for an 8-6 lead.
Glasgow was held scoreless in the top of the sixth on a solid defensive plays by Garfield at third base and Damari Martinez at shortstop.
The Yellowjackets left two runners on base without adding any runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The top of the seventh inning started well for the Yellowjackets as pitcher O’Ryan Burshia struck-out the first two batters of the frame.
Glasgow, however, then had its next four batters reach base on a single and three walks. Runs scored on a wild pitch, error and passed ball to put the Reds up by a 9-8 margin.
Wolf Point went down in order in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Glasgow opened the game by two runs in the first and another in the third for a 3-0 lead. Wolf Point fought back with two runs in the bottom of the third and one run in the fourth for a 3-3 deadlock.
Wolf Point will host Froid on Wednesday, June 10, with games starting at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
