Yellowjackets Win Home Contest Against Malta Squad

The Wolf Point Yellowjackets used an outstanding pitching effort by O’Ryan Burshia to down Malta, 6-1, in home legion baseball action on Monday, May 4.

Burshia pitched the entire seven innings for a complete game victory. He finished with six strike-outs and didn’t allow an earned run.

“The defense was really good all night,” Coach Jed Loucks said. “It was good pitching and good defense.”

Offensive highlights included a two-run single by Damari Martinez and a RBI single by Max Rees.

The Yellowjackets dropped both games of a home double- header against Scobey on Friday, May 8. Scobey won the first game by an 18-5 margin. Scobey gained an 8-1 lead in the first two innings.

Kendrik Escarcega scored two runs for Wolf Point in the contest. Also scoring were Max Rees, Evan Kawaski and Blake Porras.

Scobey took the second game by a 16-0 final.

The Yellowjackets then lost to the Miles City Colts by scores of 16-0 and 15-0 on Saturday, May 9. In the second game, Miles City jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first inning. Nice defensive plays in the game for Wolf Point were made by left-fielder Jazz Azure and shortstop Damari Martinez. Reaching base were James Corpron on a hit by pitch and Martinez on a walk.

Wolf Point will travel to Malta on Friday, May 15, and Scobey on Sunday, May 17.
