Lions Take Third Place In Sidney

The Lustre Lions struck for 56 points to earn third place in the boys’ division at the Sidney Invitational on Friday, May 8. Lustre’s girls scored nine points at the large meet.

Johnslee Pierre enjoyed a solid meet and was a triple- winner. The senior earned first in the triple jump with a personal best of 47-10, first in the long jump at 22-4 and first in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 38.46 seconds.

Jaycee Hilkemann, a sophomore, ran to a first-place finish in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:03.65.

Prestyn Klatt, a junior, placed second in the 1600 at 4:55.93 and third in the 800 at 2:04.06.

KJ Brown finished fifth in the 100 with a personal best time of 11.82 seconds.

In the girls’ division, Sidney Klatt finished fourth in the 3200 with a personal best time of 13:26.00.

Samantha Neufeld earned sixth in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:34.08.

The girls’ 1600-meter relay team featuring Kencia Brown, Lauryn Holzrichter, Neufeld and Justice Byers placed fourth at 4:33.17.

Also with personal best performances were KJ Brown in the 200, P. Klatt in the high jump, Byers in the 400 and S. Klatt in the 800.

Hadden Olfert broke the school record with a throw of 41’-9.25 in the shot put during a meet on Thursday, May 7.

The District 3C track meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, in Glasgow.
