Cowboys, Bulldogs Place At Shriners’ Track Invitational

Area track athletes placed during the Shriners’ Invitational in Glendive on Friday, May 1. The competition included many Class A and Class B schools.

The Culbertson Cowboys placed 13th in the team standings with 16.5 points.

The top three teams were Lewistown with 91, Hardin with 47 and Lockwood with 42 points. Topping the girls’ standings were Richey/Lambert with 64, Miles City with 58 and Billings Central with 45 points.

Culbertson’s Brooks Solem earned first place in the javelin with a mark of 153-8. The junior took fifth in the shot put at 44-1, fifth in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.95 seconds and sixth in the high jump by clearing 5-10.

Plenny Williams placed fifth in the javelin with a mark of 151-1.

Having personal bests for the Cowboys were Trust Magwaba in the 100 and 400, Solem in the shot put and Logan Berwick in the shot put.

In the girls’ division, Kalia Featherston had personal bests in the 200 and long jump.

Bainville

Addison Hansen improved her school record in the discus with a best of 111-8 for third place. The senior took sixth in the shot put at 33-8.

Hailey Berwick finished fifth in the 100 with a time of 13.54 seconds. The senior came close to placing in the javelin with a mark of 104-10 for seventh.

In the boys’ division, Kaiden Holmes ran the 800 in 2:03.58 for third place.

The 1600-meter relay team of Keagan Vaira, Parker Berwick, Rowan Wilson and Holmes took eighth at 3:44.49.

Having personal bests for the Bulldogs were Owen Theige in the 100, 200, 800 and 400, Evan Anderson in the 400 and triple jump, Austin Eveland in the 300-meter hurdles and Parker Berwick in the discus.

Froid/Lake

Having personal bests for the Red Hawks were Aaron Orozco in the 100 and 200, Eduardo Orozco in the 200, Bryce Murray in the 200 and 400, Lane Bakken in the 1600, Rebecca Nelson in the 100 and 200, Jordyn Breuer in the 1600 and Keira Stentoft in the 200.

Teams will compete in Sidney on Friday, May 8.
