Indians Open Tourney With Win Over Choteau
Poplar’s boys’ basketball team left little doubt in its opening-round game against Choteau at the Northern B divisional tournament in Shelby on Thursday, March 5. The Indians earned a 2413 lead in the first quarter en route to the 73-56 victory.
The Indians accounted for eight of the game’s first 10 points on baskets by Chasen Pribbernow, Dane Moran, Chance Pribbernow and Ryder Olson.
Chasen Pribbernow hit a three-pointer and Wilder Bearcub scored inside for a 13-5 lead. Ahead by a 17-13 margin, the Indians scored the last seven points of the period on a shot by Dane Moran, a drive by Bearcub and a three-pointer by Chasen Pribbernow.
A pair of baskets by Olson and consecutive three-pointers by Moran led the way as the Indians increased their lead to 38-19 during the second period. Poplar held a 4121 half-time advantage.
After Chance Pribbernow took a charge, the Indians kept increasing the margin in the third quarter. A three-pointer by Olson along with hoops by Bearcub and Moran put the margin at 5326.
Poplar went on to enjoy a 60-35 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
Leading Poplar’s attack were Chasen Pribbernow with 22, Olson with 17 and Moran with 13 points.
