Jackson Likes Competition In Football, Wild Horse Racing
Wolf Point High School senior Da’shaun Jackson likes contact. That’s partly explains his involvement in football and wild horse racing.
Jackson has also competed in basketball and track during his high school career, but football is his favorite sport. The 340-pounder played left guard and noseguard for the Wolves. He explains that he enjoys playing football because of the sport’s aggressiveness.
He prefers the defensive side of the football because he likes tackling opponents.
Jackson’s play led him to being selected to the Native All-American Game in Minneapolis held in December and also the Class B All-Star game this June.
“It was very different than Class B football,” Jackson said of the Native All-American Game. “There were more competition and tough people.”
Jackson plans to continue his football career at the University of Minnesota Morris.
During track season, Jackson competes in the shot put and discuss for the Wolves. His goal for the upcoming season is to qualify for state in the shot put.
He is looking forward to participating in many wild horse races this rodeo season. His teammates are Kasey Reed and Dusette Grandchamp.
Jackson enjoys the activity because of the adrenaline rush and the chance of sharing the arena with friends.
He said his favorite teacher is Anthony Red Cloud. “He is very positive and supporting,” Jackson explained.
Jackson’s favorite class is weight training.
