Lustre Boys Defeat Frazer At 3C Tournament
Lustre Christian’s boys’ basketball squad posted an 86-28 victory over Frazer in loser-out action at the District 3C tournament on Friday.
The Lions earned a 29-3 lead in the first quarter en route to the tournament win.
After a 2-2 deadlock, the Lions ran off 21 straight points. Two baskets by Prestyn Klatt started the streak. Joel Reddig accounted for the next eight points for a 14-2 lead.
Dean Olfert then scored off a long pass from Johnslee Pierre. After a steal and drive by Cam Reddig, Pierre hit a free throw for a 21-2 advantage. Pierre drove in for basket to put the margin at 23-2.
After Frazer’s Bryce Fourstar hit a free throw with 1:40 left in the opening quarter, the Lions struck for the last six points of the period on a drive by J. Reddig, a basket off a rebound by Hadden Olfert and two free throws by D. Olfert.
Lustre led 55-11 at the half and by a 73-26 margin after three quarters of play.
Top scorers for the Lions were J. Reddig with 21, Chris Traeholt with 15 and D. Olfert with 10 points.
Rounding out the scoring were Klatt with eight, H. Olfert with eight, Pierre with seven, Wheeler Damboise with five, Gunner Damboise with five and Yoseph Lee with three.
Scoring for the Bearcubs were Zayden Hentges with seven, Fourstar with six, Cassius Smoker with six, Gabe Beston with five and Preston Beston with five.
