The Wolf Point Wolves and Poplar Indians each had an individual girls’ champion at the Eastern B/C divisional wrestling meet in Malta during the weekend.

Wolf Point’s eighth-grader Cali Gorder won the divisional championship at 100 pounds.

Poplar’s Alara Cooper won the title at 115 pounds.

Earning third-place honors for the Indians were Laitlyn Allen at 110 pounds and Liberty Boadle at 120 pounds.

Kiaree White Hawk of Poplar placed fourth at 105 pounds.

Placing sixth for the Lady Wolves were Lakealah Mays at 105 pounds and Paisley Bruner at 130 pounds Poplar’s Stacey Simons took seventh at 170 pounds. Placing eighth were Masina Youpee at 145 and Samantha Black Eagle at 140.

In the boys’ tournament, Wolf Point’s Jesse Reed earned second-place honors at 150 pounds.

Also earning state berths were Jeremiah Healy by taking sixth at 190 and Kayeiko Villaluz by placing seventh at 110.

Poplar’s Jaden Eder placed fifth at 175 pounds.

Poplar’s Mickey Failing was eighth at 126 pounds.

The state meet starts on Thursday, Feb. 19, in Billings.
