Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball team dropped its regular- season finale against Malta by a 74-38 margin at home on Saturday, Feb. 14.

A three-pointer by Tant Anderson provided Malta with a 13-6 lead midway into the first quarter, but the Wolves fought back on a turnaround jumper by Richard Campbell and a three-pointer by Brady Four Bear.

Baskets by Kayden Charette and Stephen Brown kept the Wolves close, but Malta held a 19-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Mustangs increased their lead to 27-17 early in the second quarter. Wolf Point pulled to 31-24 on baskets by Sean Hamilton and Zandon Calder.

Malta held a 37-28 half-time advantage and then struck for the first 12 points of the third quarter.

Malta went on to gain a 5437 lead at the end of the third period. The Mustangs held a 72-35 advantage with three minutes to play.

Hamilton and Four Bear led the Wolves with nine points each.

Rounding out the scoring were Campbell with four, Calder with four, Charette with four, Jett Azure with two, Brown with two, Cole Holen with two and Stone Lilley with two.

The District 2B tournament begins on Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Malta.
