Lady Wolves Beat Wildcats

A big second quarter led Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball team to a 57-35 conference victory in Plentywood on Friday, Feb. 13.

Ahead by a 10-4 margin to end the first quarter, the Wolves increased their lead to 16-6 early in the second period on a pair of three-pointers by Sophia Ricker.

After Plentywood’s April McCabe hit two free throws, Wolf Point’s Maci Fourstar connected on two baskets including one falling down for a 20-8 lead.

A baseline shot by Cadence Bouldin and a three-pointer by Mattie Azure put the margin at 25-8.

The Wildcats struck for the next four points, but Ricker then fired in another three-pointer for a 16-point lead.

A drive by Jorilynn Black Eagle ended the half at 30-13.

Wolf Point outscored Plentywood by a 13-9 margin in the third quarter for a 4322 advantage.

Top scorers for the Wolves were Ricker with 15, Fourstar with 13 and Black Eagle with 12.

Also scoring were Amya Martinez with four, Azure with three, Harper Weeks with three and Marley Moran with two.
