Poplar Falls Against Malta Teams

The Poplar Indians came up short in both conference contests against strong Malta teams on Friday, Jan. 16.

In the boys’ game, the Indians were outscored by a final of 107-83.

Malta scored 24 points in the first quarter and 27 more in the second period for a 5135 half-time advantage.

The Mustangs held an 8055 lead after three quarters of play.

Top scorers for the Indians were Wilder Bearcub with 20, Ryder Olson with 17 and Chasen Pribbernow with 16 points.

Also scoring were Colton Dupree with nine, Dane Moran with four, Stephen Smoker with four, Houston Eder with three, Eljin Grey Bear with two, Chance Pribbernow with two, Bostyn Azure with two and Xhaiden Bull Chief with two.

Dawson Hammond poured in 28 points for Malta.

Other top scorers for the Mustangs were Regan Stuart, Kazner Oxarart and Kruise Stiles with 19 points each.

In the girls’ game, Malta won by a 71-36 final.

Malta held a 40-19 halftime advantage.

The M-ettes increased the margin to 53-30 in the third quarter.

Top scorers for the Indians were Journey Gourneau with 10 and Jenaeya Moran with nine points.

Braelyn Nordwick and Ashlyn Bull Chief added six points each. Also scoring were Cammie Martell with three and Frankie Gourneau with two points.

Leading Malta were Neva Jacobson with 22 and Tailynn Wilke with 16 points.
