Bulldogs Lose Match Against Jordan
The Bainville Bulldogs enjoyed a good start before falling to Jordan in the first round of the Eastern C divisional volleyball tournament in Sidney on Thursday, Nov. 6.
Jordan won the match by a 16-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-13, final.
In the first set, the serving of Lila Butikofer and net play of Hailey Berwick led the Bulldogs to a 17-10 advantage.
Kills by Casey Myers and Berwick along with a tip by Addison Hansen increased the gap to 21-12. After a kill by Jaylynn Bjorge put Bainville up 22-12, the Mustangs got as close as 23-16. The Bulldogs then tallied the last two points.
Jordan jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the second set on aces by Jada McWilliams and kills by Gracie Phipps.
The Bulldogs pulled to 8-4 on a kill by Chandi Johnson, but Jordan then moved ahead by a 15-6 margin.
Jordan held a 24-11 advantage until kills by Berwick, a spike by Butikofer and a block by Hansen cut the gap to 24-17. The Mustangs then scored the set’s final point.
In the third set, the Bulldogs stayed close at 22-17 on a block by Johnson and a kill by Berwick.
Down by a 23-18 margin, kills by Berwick accounted for three of the next four points to close the gap to 2421. Jordan ended the set on a kill by Phipps.
Bainville gained a 6-5 lead in the fourth set on kills by Myers, Bjorge and Berwick along with an ace by Siena Martinez.
Jordan took the lead, but an ace by Berwick closed the margin at 17-12. With the score at 20-13, the Mustangs struck for the last five points of the match.
