Bainville Takes Fifth Place At Divisional Tournament
The Bainville Bulldogs took fifth place at the Eastern C divisional volleyball tournament held in Sidney during the weekend.
The Bulldogs were eliminated by North Country, 2325, 25-20, 14-25, 15-25, on Friday, Nov, 7.
Down by a 15-12 margin in the first set, Bainville battled back to a 16-16 deadlock on kills by Hailey Berwick and Addison Hansen.
The Bulldogs kept rolling to take a 20-17 on a tip by Casey Myers. The Mavericks, however, gained a 22-21 lead on the net play of BaiLee Mc-Colly and Emerson Downing.
McColly had a kill and block for a 24-22 lead en route to the 25-23 win.
In the second set, a spike by Chandi Johnson and a block by Myers put Bainville ahead by a 19-18 margin.
The Bulldogs were able to increase the gap to 23-20 on an ace by Myers and a kill by Berwick.
Two more kills by Berwick ended the set at 25-20.
The Bulldogs trailed by only a 12-10 margin in the third set until North Country accounted for six straight points. A tip by Gracie Wasson put the Mavericks ahead by a 20-11 score.
After Bainville scored on a spike by Jaylynn Bjorge, North Country tallied five of the last seven points.
North Country took a 17-9 lead in the fourth set. Kills by Berwick and Hansen cut the margin to 18-11.
The Mavericks, however, posted a 24-15 victory.
