Wolf Point City Council Holds Meeting
The Wolf Point City Council held its regular monthly meeting Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.. Noreen Hohman spoke during the public comment period to compliment the Wolf Point Police Department for helping area residents. She also asked about limiting the sale of alcohol during certain hours. “We can’t limit the sale of alcohol,” Mayor Chris Dschaak told Hohman. “We’ve been down that road.”
Hohman also asked about utilizing and cleaning up a grassy areas near the underpass. Dschaak explained that using the area is a complicated mix of ownership and access, preventing the city from taking action.
Lois Red Elk spoke during public comment, seeking solutions to area crime, property vacancy and violations of municipal codes.
The Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture requested permission to put cameras on the gazebo across from the Sherman Inn to protect a light display they are planning to leave up during and after its Dec. 6 Christmas Stroll event.
“I will have more information for this in November,” said Dschaak.
A community member requested permission for electrical access at Triangle Park for church and community groups. There is currently no access at the park. The council plans to gather information on related costs.
The soccer program was discussed, with the possibility of switching to flag football. “I think our first discussion needs to be, who’s going to do it,” said Public Works director Ed Bach.
Greg Lukasik from Great West Engineering provided an update on the wastewater improvement project. A motion was passed accepting a bid from Jackson Contractor Group for work on the lift station. Revenue, expense and the treasurer’s cash report were approved.
The next regular meeting is set for Nov. 17.
