Lustre Knocks Off Frazer In Conference Volleyball Match
The Lustre Lions scored a straight set victory at Frazer in conference volleyball play on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Lustre won by a 25-7, 25-7, 25-8, final.
The serving of Aleah Fast and Samantha Neufeld led Lustre to a 4-1 start. Kills by Sidney Klatt and Hannah Brown increased the gap to 6-2.
Lauryn Holzrichter served five aces as the Lions moved out in front by a 12-2 advantage.
Lustre kept enjoying success as kills by Holly Hilkemann and Fast along with ace serves by Brown put the score at 20-4.
Brockton was able to pull to 20-6 on the serving of Bethany Hotomanie. Kills by Fast and an ace by Klatt led the Lions to a 25-7 victory.
In the second set, aces by Holzrichter highlighted action as Lustre gained a 8-3 advantage. Aces by Natalie Fast increased the gap to 12-4.
With the margin at 15-5, four aces by Justice Byers led the way to a 20-6 advantage.
After a block by Brockton’s Isabelle Fourstar, the Lions pulled away on a kill by Klatt and aces by Ava Holzrichter.
The Lions jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third set and moved ahead to 14-4 on the net play of L. Holzrichter and Brown. A tip by Hilkemann along with kills by Klatt and Brown put the margin to 19-4. Brockton cut the gap to 22-8 on a block by Fourstar, the Lions ended the match on a pair of kills by A. Fast and an ace by Hilkemann.
The district tournament starts on Thursday, Oct. 30, in Saco.
