Lustre News
Fiber optic service is due to be connected in Lustre in a couple of months for those who do not yet have it. TCH Construction of Glasgow has been working to install piping to prepare for the installation of fiber optics on Wallstreet road. It will provide an internet, telephone and cable all in one service with a reliability that is not affected by weather. They will be in the area all summer, working from east to west. It will be activated by Nemont when finished.
Senior High Bible Camp at Beacon Bible Camp was held with Seth Runner of Glasgow as director. He was aided by Dale Schultz, Jay and Brad Marlenee and Wes Mulder. About 30 attended the “Making Faith Your Own” themed camp. One emphasis was on having others to encourage you and maintaining accountability. Mary and Grant Zerbe hosted the campers for some of the activities, such as swimming. A group from “Sports Crusaders” in Missouri came to help.
The BBC annual meeting was held June 16, followed by a Father’s Day barbecue. Dan Marasco, camp board chairman, read the Apostle Paul’s parting words from Acts 20, imploring the community to “be on guard for the flock lest savage wolves from among you draw you away.” Last week, there were 41 campers registered for senior high camp, 23 boys and 18 girls, according to Runner. 2023 Camp directors Dawson Olfert and Marasco gave reports, as did secretary Clayton Zerbe and treasurer Marilyn Hilkemann. Improvements have been made in the kitchen with oven hood ventilation and a commercial oven. New insurance was found for the camp and will be evaluated over the next year. A bathroom remodel is planned for July. Steve Trimble and Sean Boysun, both of Wolf Point, were elected to the board of trustees. Thanks was expressed to Runner for a job well done as the new director of senior camp.
