The Lustre Grade School hosted the Frazer Bearcubs Friday evening, and went to Saco Saturday to finish their season of junior high and jamboree basketball.
The jamboree girls played Frazer first and won their game 22-14. They played so well.
The Jamboree boys (grades 5-6) played next, winning 2810. It was good to see their team work in defense.
The Jr. High girls basketball had to work in order to come from behind a 17-4 lead by Frazer to win their game. It was a hard-fought game, and exciting for the people watching. They were behind 22-20 at half, and won 48-35.
The junior high boys’ final basketball home game was won 41-6.
The Jamboree girls won their game against Saco 33-8, the Jamboree boys won 29--16. Congratulations to the jamboree boys and the junior high boys who remain undefeated for the season.
These teams will be playing in tournaments Nov. 17-18. Friday the junior high boys play in Nashua, and the junior high girls play in Frazer. Saturday the jamboree boys and girls (grades 5-6) both play in Whitewater.
Veterans Day was Nov. 11. Should your neighbor be a veteran, and you can encourage them by thanking them for their service to our country, no matter the era. We have active servicemen who have graduated from LCHS. This is a day to remember our veterans. It would be appropriate to pray for them, write them a letter or find their address to send a care package. It would mean so much to them and their families.
The area churches participated in gathering gifts, packed in shoeboxes for the Samaritan’s Purse ministry called Operation Christmas Child. They are prayed over, for they have a long way to travel to reach the recipients who are found around the world in many needy areas. It is a great way to begin the Thanksgiving week and provide for children at Christmas.
Dorm students spent a week in homes while the dorm parents took vacation. They will be back with the dorm students by Thanksgiving week. Sunday evening, one of our foreign students (LCHS grad of 2014), Zling Xia visited folks in the community, gathering them at one of the churches. She has become an RN and it is always a pleasure to see our grads return.
Basketball practices have begun for the LCHS boys. The LGS Junior High boys won their games 59-23 over Nashua and 45-25 over Frontier in their tournament at Nashua. The Jamboree teams play this week at Whitewater. The junior high boys team in an undefeated season and won the championship.
The EMB Missions sale, held every two years to raise funds in support of those missionaries who grew up in the church or have a family connection, was held Monday, Nov. 20.
Roger and Terry Wall celebrate 50 years of marriage on Nov. 24. They are pastoring two rural churches in Jordan Valley, Idaho, and Arock, Ore. Roger is one of those homegrown men who grew up in the Lustre EMB Church.
