Lustre Christian’s track athletes enjoyed an outstanding day at the season-opening Wibaux Invitational meet in Glendive on Friday, April 7.

The Lions accounted for 148 points for third-place honors. The top two teams were Havre with 186 and Glendive with 153 points.

Jasiah Hambira certainly opened his season on a high note. The senior was a triple- winner with firsts in the high jump (6-2), long jump (21-5) and triple jump (42-8). He finished second in the 200 (23.92) and 400 (53.22).

Johnslee Pierre, a freshman, earned second place in the 110-meter hurdles at 17.59 seconds and fourth place in the 300-meter hurdles at 44.46 seconds. Pierre also took fourth place in the long jump with a state qualifying distance of 20-3.

Braden Ewing, a senior, earned third in the triple jump with a mark of 39-11.

Terran Joseph, a junior, placed third in the long jump at 20-4.

Other Lions in the top 10 for events included Pierre with an eighth in the triple jump, Braden Ewing with an eighth in the 100 and Joseph with a 10th in the 200. The 400-meter relay team consisting of Braden Ewing, Byron Ewing, Ife Aniobi and Joseph finished in eighth place.

The Lions are scheduled for compete at the Scobey Invitational in Wolf Point on Saturday, April 15.
