Several Cases Heard In District Court

Andre Rico Hallman admitted to four parole violations during a hearing in district court on Tuesday, March 28.

The violations that Hallman admitted to included criminal endangerment, obstructing a peace officer, used of an illegal drug and not maintaining employment.

Based on a plea agreement, District Judge David Cybulski sentenced Hallman to a 10year commitment with the Montana Department of Corrections with five of the years suspended. The sentence is to run concurrently with two Gallatin County sentences.

Thea Jo Michaelsen changed her plea to four charges during a hearing in district court on Tuesday, March 28.

Michaelsen made guilty pleas to criminal possession of dangerous drugs (fentanyl), criminal possession of dangerous drugs (meth), cruelty to animals and criminal possession of dangerous drugs (meth).

Maximum penalties for the possession charges are five years in prison, a $5,000 fine or both. Maximum penalties for cruelty to animals is one year in jail, a $1,000 fine or both.

The first three offenses occurred on Oct. 21, 2022, and the fourth one happened on Dec. 14, 2022.

Cybulski ordered a pre-sentencing investigation.

In his initial appearance hearing, Kameron Dale Beston made not guilty pleas to criminal distribution of dangerous drugs, possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. The alleged offenses happened on March 15.

An omnibus hearing was scheduled for April 12. A trial was scheduled for June 15.

Beston, 21, sought a reduction of bond. Defense attorney Sally Kay Hickok noted that Beston is a life-long resident of the area and she wished for the bond to be decreased to $25,000. County attorney Janet Christoffersen said she wasn’t ready to reduce the amount because of the seriousness of the offenses.

Cybulski reduced the bond amount to $50,000. Beston must live with his parents in Frazer under the conditions.

Heather Ann Martell made not guilty pleas to possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

An omnibus hearing is set for April 12. A trial is scheduled for June 15.
