Man Honored For Five Decades Of Lifesaving Service

In Cascade County last week, Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte honored critical care flight paramedic Keith Bicsak for five decades of service to Montana. Bicsak recently capped off a 52-year career as a first responder.

“One of the greatest pleasures I have as governor is recognizing Montanans who go above and beyond to serve their neighbors and our state,” Gov. Gianforte said. “Keith is one of those Montanans, and we can’t say thanks to him enough for the years he’s dedicated to serving his fellow Montanans.”

Since the 1970s, Bicsak has served in emergency medical services in Montana. He was one of the first flight emergency medical technicians for his family-owned ambulance service, Bicsak Emergency Air Transport. BEAT later became Mercy Flight, where Bicsak flies today.

The governor surprised Bicsak with his Spirit of Montana award at the Mercy Flight helipad at Benefis.

“It’s been great to work at Benefis and with my work families, past and present. I am overwhelmed with the support here today, it is great to be recognized,” Bicsak said.

During the ceremony, Bicsak also shared his passion for helping people and encouraged young Montanans to pursue a career in emergency services.
