Wrestlers Place At Montana Open

Wrestlers from Wolf Point and Poplar earned honors at the Montana Open held during the weekend.

Wolf Point’s Anna Matejovsky placed third at 114 pounds in the girls’ 12 and under division. She won five matches during the tournament including pinning Fort Benton’s Maycee Ort in 2:12 for third place.

Jeina Reum took third place at 95 pounds in the girls’ 15 age division. She posted two victories at the meet.

Ka’Anuhea Villaluz earned sixth place at 37 pounds in the girls’ 6 and under division. She scored a pin at the meet.

Hunter Zimmerman placed fourth at 87 pounds in the boys’ 8 and under division. He won three matches during the tournament.

Kye Paulson took sixth at 58 pounds in the boys’ 8 age division. Paulson posted five pins during the weekend.

Poplar’s Angelina Escarcega won the title at 100 pounds in the girls’ 18 and under division. She earned an 18-3 win over Jennifer Verdin of Night Hawks in the title match.

Navarjo Escarcega placed second at 130 pounds in the boys’ 15 and under division. He scored four victories at the tournament.

Cali Gorder took second at 78 pounds in the girls’ 12 and under division. She won three of her four matches.

Caydee Gorder earned second at 73 pounds in the girls’ 10 and under division. She earned wins in four of her five matches.

Jacob Berger placed third at 275 pounds in the open division. Berger posted victories in his first four matches at the meet.

Renlee Archambault took third at 37 pounds in the girls’ 6 and under division. She scored two pins at the tournament.

Makhi Smoker earned third at 46 pounds in the 6 and under division. He posted four victories.

Anjulie Baker placed fourth at 165 pounds in the girls’ 12 and under division.

Marvin Youpee Jr. took sixth at 150 pounds in the open division.
