Red Hawks Open With Win Over Savage

The Froid/Lake girls controlled play in the first half and defeated Savage, 58-47, during opening-round action at the District 2C tournament in Sidney on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

The Red Hawks jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first quarter and held a 20-11 advantage early in the second period.

Froid/Lake increased the margin to 26-11 on two baskets by Dasani Nesbit and a drive by Brooklynn Nordwick.

Savage responded with the next eight points on five points by Cambry Conradsen and a three-pointer by Taylor Conradsen for a 26-19 game.

Froid/Lake ended the second quarter on a great note with seven straight points on two hoops by Nesbit and a basket by Mara Salvevold for a 33-19 half-time advantage. Nesbit finished with 20 points in the half.

A three-pointer by Baylee Davidson and a basket off a rebound by Nesbit put the Red Hawks ahead by a 39-23 score. The Red Hawks enjoyed a 48-32 lead after three quarters of play.

Top scorers for the Red Hawks were Nesbit with 25 and B. Davidson with 13 points.

Also scoring were B. Nordwick with six, J. Davidson with six, Isabelle Nordwick with five and Salvevold with four points.

Nesbit finished with 13 rebounds. Salvevold had five assists.

C. Conradsen led Savage with 23 points including four three-pointers. Teah Conradsen added eight points and had nine rebounds.
