Froid/Lake Girls Fall To Plentywood

Froid/Lake’s girls put up a good fight but lost to top-seeded Plentywood, 5539, in the semi-final round of the District 2C basketball tournament in Sidney on Friday, Feb. 17.

The Red Hawks earned a 15-11 lead in the first quarter as the scoring of Brooklynn Nordwick was a highlight.

Plentywood outscored the Red Hawks by a 16-3 margin in the second quarter to take a 27-18 half-time advantage.

A 9-0 run led by Emma Brensdal put the Wildcats ahead 38-20 during the third quarter. Two drives by Froid/ Lake’s Dasani Nesbit ended the quarter with Plentywood ahead 40-21.

The Red Hawks accounted for strong play in the fourth period to get as close as 4234. The scoring of Nesbit and free-throw shooting of Baylee Davidson highlighted the comeback.

Plentywood, however, pulled away for the 55-39 victory.

Nesbit led the Red Hawks with 15 points. Also scoring were B. Nordwick with eight, Davidson with seven, Mara Salvevold with five, Isabelle Nordwick with three and Alexa Nelson with one point.

Top scorers for Plentywood were Brensdal with 24 and Paityn Curtiss with 11 points. Brensdal finished with 16 rebounds,
