Lustre Boys Defeat Scobey, 58-33

After a tight first half, Lustre Christian’s boys’ basketball squad rolled to a 58-33 home victory over conference rival Scobey on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

The first half ended in a 19-19 deadlock, but the Lions got things going in the third quarter as a drive by Jasiah Hambira opened action.

Ahead by a 23-20 margin, Lustre accounted for the contest’s next 10 points. A steal and layup by Alex Chen got the streak going. After the Lions forced another turnover, Clay Reddig hit from the baseline for a 27-20 lead, A drive by Hambira, a basket off a rebound after a steal by Cayden Klatt and a hoop by Johnslee Pierre increased the advantage to 33-20.

After the Spartans made a couple of free throws, the Lions kept rolling with the next 12 points to earn a 45-22 lead. Hambira, a 6-3 senior, scored nine of the points. Braden Ewing scored off a pass from Reddig, who also added a free throw.

Lustre held a 45-22 lead at the end of the third quarter and increased the gap to 5122 with the first six points of the fourth period on hoops by Klatt, Braeden Ewing and Hambira.

Hambira finished the game with 22 points to lead the Lions.

Also scoring were Klatt with eight, Braden Ewing with six, Reddig with five, Elijah Lenihan with five, Pierre with four, Bryon Ewing with three, Chen with two and Terran Joseph with two.

Top scorers for Scobey were Cooper Axtman with 12 and Boen Tande with eight points.
