Wolves Score League Win In Malta

The Wolf Point Wolves dominated play in the third quarter for a 66-51 league victory in Malta Saturday, Jan. 21.

The undefeated Wolves trailed by a 27-26 half-time margin, but Kraven Silk opened the third quarter with a pair of free throws and a three-pointers.

After Malta’s Treyton Wilke hit a pair of free throws, Juliun Benson connected on a three-pointer to put the Wolves up 34-29.

With the score at 34-31, Wolf Point exploded for 14 straight points to earn a 48-31 advantage.

The streak started with a drive and three-pointer by Gaige Bushman. Two long passes from Kelby Bauer resulted in two hoops by Benson. After Silk connected on a 16-footer, Benson accounted for a three-point play to put the margin at 17 points.

The Wolves held a 48-35 advantage at the end of the third quarter. Malta closed the margin to 54-42 in the fourth period, but a three-pointer by Benson and two free throws by Bauer put the score at 5942 with only 3:08 left.

Benson finished with 27 points. Also reaching double figures were Bushman with 17 and Silk with 11 points. Also scoring were Bauer with seven, Cade Stafne with two and Peyton Summers with two points.

Top scorers for Malta were Bohdi Brenden with 17, Wilke with 14 and Stockton Oxarart with 11 points.
