Lady Wolves Fall In Scobey
The Wolves struggled in the second half and fell in Scobey, 48-36, during non-conference girls’ basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 14.
Wolf Point trailed 14-8 at the end of the first quarter after falling behind 9-0.
The Wolves opened the second period with six straight points on two free throws by Katelyn MacDonald, a 16-footer by J’Elle Garfield and a pair of free tosses by Keeley Blount-Henderson for a 14-14 deadlock.
Wolf Point struck for seven straight points midway into the second period on a hoop by MacDonald, a three-pointer by Juellz Bauer and a drive by Garfield to take a 23-18 lead.
A three-pointer by Garfield and a free throw by Blount-Henderson led the Wolves to a 27-25 half-time advantage.
Scobey outscored the Wolves by an 11-3 margin in the third quarter for a 38-30 margin.
After the Spartans scored the first six points of the fourth quarter for a 44-30 lead, Wolf Point’s Sierra Hamilton hit a three-pointer. Other points for the Wolves during the period came on two free throws by Hamilton and a free throw by MacDonald.
Garfield led the Wolves with 11 points. Also scoring were MacDonald with nine, Hamilton with seven, Blount-Henderson with three, Bauer with three and KJ St. Marks with three.
Kaytie Aanstad accounted for 18 of Scobey’s points.
