Indians Come Up Short In Malta

 

The Poplar Indians dropped two tough conference basketball contests in Malta on Friday, Jan. 13.

In the boys’ game, the Indians were edged by a 63-59 final.

Poplar trailed 31-29 at the half, and Malta then added 16 points in the third quarter to grab a 47-40 lead.

The Indians outscored Malta by a 19-16 margin in the final period.

Reaching double figures for the Indians were Delray Lilley with 20, Geordy Medicine Cloud with 11 and Kaniel Ricker with 11 points.

Also scoring for Poplar were Walker Burshia with seven, Kameron Reum with six, Preston Ogle with two and Cetan Growing Thunder with two.

Leading Malta were Stockton Oxarart with 19, Kaden Bishop with 13 and Treyton White with 12 points.

Poplar’s girls fell behind by a 58-31 final.

Malta jumped out to an 18-6 lead in the first quarter and held a 32-12 half-time advantage.

Morgen Nordwick scored 10 points to lead the Indians. Also scoring were Cammie Martell with six, Jazmyn Carrywater with four, Rikki Belton with four, Kessee Erickson with three, Braelyn Nordwick with two and Bailey Dupree with two.

Leading Malta were Madison Williamson with 21 points and Allison Kunze with 13 points.
