Poplar Sweeps Games Against Dodson

Both of Poplar’s basketball teams cruised to non-conference home victories over Dodson on Saturday, Jan. 7.

Poplar’s boys outscored Dodson by a 74-45 final.

The Indians jumped out to a 28-11 lead in the first quarter. Poplar enjoyed a 41-27 half-time advantage.

Poplar then accounted for 18 points in the third quarter to increase the margin to 5935.

Delray Lilley led the Indians with 23 points. Also reaching double figures were Kaniel Ricker with 14 and Geordy Medicine Cloud with 13 points. Rounding out Poplar’s scoring were Preston Ogle with seven, Cetan Growing Thunder with six, Walker Burshia with four and Kameron Reum with three.

Top scorers for Dodson were Mickey Jaynes with 18 and Junior Stiffarm with 11 points.

Poplar’s girls earned a 6247 win over Dodson.

After leading by only a 14-12 margin at the end of the first quarter, the Indians struck for 18 points in the second period for a 32-19 lead.

Poplar held a 41-34 advantage after three quarters and then exploded for 21 points in the final period.

Leading the Indians were Cammie Martell with 14, Morgen Nordwick with 11 and EmmaRae Martell with 11 points. Also scoring were Mattie Falls Down with eight, Braelyn Nordwick with five, Bailey Dupree with four, Jazmyn Carry Water with three, Saydee Archambault with three, Rikki Belton with two and Kessee Erickson with two points.

Top scorers for Dodson were Kataya Kill Eagle with 21 and Lindsey Fetter with 14 points.
