Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

In 2023, National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.) is Jan. 9 which highlights the importance of showing respect and honor to the men and women who protect and serve us. In light of recent negativity directed toward law enforcement nationally, there is a need to show officers that our citizens recognize the difficult and sometimes impossible career they have chosen, in public service to us all.

According to the Concerns of Police Survivors organization (C.O.P.S.), partnering organizations in support of law enforcement officers nationwide are promoting a call to action in support of law enforcement. January 9th, citizens are especially encouraged to take time to show officers gratitude. Here are a few ways to show your support.

• Participate in Project Blue Light. Proudly display blue lights in support of law enforcement.

•Send a card of support to the local police department, county, or state agency.

•Share a story about a positive law enforcement experience on social media.

•Support brands that give back to law enforcement. Some such companies can be found at www.concernsofpolicesurvivors. org/brands-thatgive- back

•Coordinate and/or participate in a Blue Blood Drive.

•Ask children in the community to write letters of support to local law enforcement

entities.

•Wear a blue ribbon in support of law enforcement officers.
