County Covers Start Of Year Business

Roosevelt County commissioners took care of beginning of the year business during their meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Commissioners agreed to keep having their regular meetings at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays if county business requires. The weekly agenda will be posted no later than 11 a.m. on Friday. The agendas will be posted on the main hallway bulletin board in the courthouse in Wolf Point and just inside the front door of the county building in Culbertson.

Hours for county offices are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the weekday except for legal holidays. The commissioners’ office will close from noon to 1 p.m. when commissioners are not available.

Commissioners agreed to keep the travel allowance for meals at $10 for morning, $12 for mid-day and $17 for evenings.

Mileage rates will be 62.5 cents per mile driven for business use for the first 1,000 miles. The rate for mileage more than 1,000 miles is 59.5 cents per mile.

Commissioners, based on a recommendation by Sheriff Jason Frederick, kept the daily rate of credit for incarceration at $50.

Commissioners approved a resolution to call for a public hearing to hear input on accepting roads to be public roads. The meeting will take place in Culbertson at the county building starting at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 23. Most of the roads discussed are located between Bainville and Culbertson. Roads include 2059, 1018, 1017, 1014, 2058, 1015, 2055, 2054, 1016, 2055, 2053, 1013, 2052, 2050, 2049 and 1012.

Diane Lambert was hired for Aging Services in the combined position of program assistant/assistant cook.

During a gravel bid opening meeting, one bid was received from Franz Construction for the north Bainville area (Picard pit). The bid was $10.25 a ton for 13,947.55 tons for the amount of $142,962.39. Commissioners approved the bid.
