Trustees Hire Karge As Interim Superintendent

A familiar face will serve as the interim superintendent for the Wolf Point School District for the rest of the school year.

Former superintendent Eileen Karge was approved to be the school district’s interim superintendent during the school board meeting on Monday, Dec. 12. Karge has applied to reactivate her superintendent certification. The Montana School Board Association has prepared a contract for the interim position.

Karge is scheduled to work two days a week from the beginning of January to July 30.

Trustees also approved to continue advertising the superintendent position through the Montana School Board Association. A revised closing date was set for Feb. 16, 2023, with the position to start July 1, 2023.

Trustees approved the hiring as Lisa S. Screeton as a junior high social studies teacher, Jacob Boysun as a full-time teacher, Hamyanie Campbell as a substitute teacher during college breaks and Daniel Mansfield as an assistant custodian.

Adult education hires were Linda Nygaard for water color, Judy Holom and C. Susan Brown for quilting, Jerrelyn Mansfield for dance to fit and Kim Hanks for adult volleyball. Grant Legare was hired as a junior high boys’ basketball coach.

Trustees accepted the resignation of curriculum director Sarah Ruff. Probationary employee Terra Pronto was terminated.

Teacher Douglas Evans asked for an update of the lobby project during public comment. School officials are waiting for a case to be built and delivered.

McKinstry was approved for the design-build ESSER capital projects.

During the activities director’s report, Eric Peterson provided updates about each program. Peterson noted he feels some facilities need to be improved. “We need a wrestling room,” he said.
