Wolf Point Council Approves Growth Policy

The Wolf Point City Council held their regular meeting Nov. 21.

Brianna Vine from Great Northern Development Corporation has advised the council via email that the city is welcome to negotiate the sale of five square feet of property on the south side of town to Bill Juve as requested. She said there would be no conflict regarding grant monies used at the site.

The council will consider the matter at the December meeting.

The council approved a new growth policy for 2023.

A building permit has been issued for a new sign at Fox Ford.

Mayor Chris Dschaak said the Wolf Point Volunteer Fire Department is seeking members. The department meets on the first at third Tuesdays of the month at 6 p.m. Contact chief Clint Bushman for more information at 406-6531910.

Greg Lukasik from Great West Engineering provided an update on invoicing and planning for the wastewater improvement project. He said the city has received approval to start bidding for phase one components after the first of the year. The council approved related pay requests in the amounts of 39,634 and %15,993.86. They also approved DNRC draw requests in the amounts of $114,979.22 and $9,949.50. Lukasic also provided updates on phase two financing efforts, which he said are ongoing.

Two positions were reported open with the Wolf Point Police Department, as well as an opening for an animal control worker. Additional positions with the city are being advertised. One application for city attorney was tabled for further consideration by the personnel, policy and wage committee. Additional applicants are being sought. Authority was approved for the committee to make a recommendation at the next council meeting.

Activity reports were presented, including revenue and expense reports, treasurer’s cash reports and securities. A resolution was approved to authorize management of financial accounts.

Minutes were approved for the Aug. 22 and Nov. 14 public hearings, an Aug. 29 special meeting and two regular meetings (Oct. 17-Nov. 14).

The next council meeting is set for Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.
