Poplar Runners Place Third At Sidney Invitational

The Poplar Indians enjoyed one of their best cross country performances of the season at the Sidney Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Poplar coach Karolyn Kohl said her top two runners in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions turned in their personal records.

“I was really pleased with the results,” Kohl said.

Poplar’s girls, who are ranked third in the state for Class B, placed third in the team standings with 73 points behind Miles City with 44 and Sidney with 66 points.

Poplar’s senior Jazmyn Carrywater finished in ninth place with a time of 20:32.4.

Reinita Irizarry, also a senior, placed 11th at 20:56.6.

Mattie Falls Down finished 15th at 21:38.2.

Blake Follette took 20th place at 22:23.1. Kacie Colgan earned 25th place at 22:52.8.

Caidryn Archambault placed 43rd at 25:38.5. Alara Parshall took 52nd at 27:10.8.

In the boys’ division, the Indians placed third in the team standings with 82 points behind Miles City with 38 and Glendive with 45 points.

Poplar’s Geordy Medicine Cloud finished 11th at 18:08.3 and Kaniel Ricker earned 12th at 18:08.9.

Miles Boxer placed 17th at 18:31.3. Navarjo Escarcega took 29th at 19:35.6.

Raylando Red Eagle earned 30th place at 19:39.8. Wilder Bearcub placed 33rd at 19:51.5. Delray Lilley took 39th at 20:24.1.

Poplar will compete in Plentywood on Saturday, Oct. 15. The state meet is Saturday, Oct. 22, in Missoula.
