Man Charged With Criminal Endangerment

Terrence Raye Cambridge is facing three charges, including one felony, after a crash in Culbertson July 11.

Cambridge is scheduled to make his initial district court appearance on Sept. 14. He faces the felony charge of criminal endangerment and the misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, first offense, and right of way violation.

According to court records, deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Fifth Street East and Third Avenue East in Culbertson. The accident involved a red Chevrolet pickup and a black mini van.

When Cambridge was asked what happened, he replied, “I pulled out in front of this lady and she didn’t stop and we collided.”

Cambridge was having difficulty forming complete sentences and there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Cambridge. He denied drinking.

The female driver of the mini van said she was driving north on Third Avenue East and Cambridge was stopped facing west. As she crossed the intersection, Cambridge pulled out and hit her vehicle on the front passenger fender. At the time of the crash, she was pregnant and driving with two minor children.

Cambridge refused to perform field sobriety tests and to give a breath sample. A deputy noticed several open containers of alcohol in Cambridge’s pickup.

According to court records, when at the detention center’s booking area, Cambridge said, “I was driving under the influence.”

He also said he refused to take the field sobriety tests because he would fail.
