Wolf Point Babe Ruth Team Opens Season

The Wolf Point Babe Ruth team dropped two games against the Froid Bulls this Mothers Day weekend to open the season.

“We are young and it showed,” Wolf Point Coach Scott Vandall said. “We made some rookie mistakes that we will fix. We had some good plays fall in our favor, but just made some mistakes.”

The Yellow jackets lost the first game, 14-2. “We just couldn’t get anything started. We settled in around the third inning but was too late,” Vandall said. “I feel if we could handled the ball better, it’s a different game. The youth and nerves of that game really showed.”

In the second game, Wolf Point came out on fire and jumped to a two-run lead right out off the bat. “We battled good into the third or fourth inning, and the Bulls capitalized on our youth and made plays. We lost that game 14-5. Give the Bulls some credit, they had some really good hits.”

Wolf Point plays one of the Glasgow’s teams on Friday, May 13, in Glasgow.

“We are going to improve on things. We are a little behind in baseball. We are small, we have 10 kids and some that haven’t play for a couple years and some not at all,” Vandall said. “We are looking to the future. We’re hoping to get some little leaguers playing next year and build that program to build the Babe Ruth and Legion team. We are working on this. We are hoping to really bring baseball back to our community. It’s not easy. But nothing that is good ever is. Please come to a home game and give some support to the Yellowjackets. They are working hard to improve.”
