Initial Pesticide Private Applicator Training Set For March 8
MSU Extension will be offering an Initial Pesticide Private Applicator Training on Tuesday, March 8, in Glasgow. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the program starting at 7:45 a.m. and adjourning at 5 p.m.
The program will be held at the Cottonwood Inn in Glasgow, 54250 US Highway 2. Initial Private Applicator Trainings are for individuals who want to obtain a Montana Private Applicator License, which is required for anyone who is applying restricted-use pesticides to land that they own or lease.
In addition, dealers and those who currently hold a private, commercial, non-commercial, or governmental applicator license can attend to receive up to six recertification credits. The training will cover topics including the private applicator license, tribal license, reading and understanding product labels, record keeping requirements, pesticide law and regulations, integrated pest management, spray equipment calibration, pesticide safety and pesticides’ fate in the environment. Speakers will include MSU Extension Agents from Valley, Daniels, Roosevelt, and McCone counties as well as Cecil Tharp and Amy Bowser of the MSU Pesticide Education Program. Additionally, Diana DeYoung from the Montana Department of Agriculture, will be presenting laws and regulations. There is no charge to attend the training. Lunch will be on your own.
