Wolf Point’s wrestlers were in Forsyth during the weekend. It was scheduled to be a two-day meet but ended up being a mixer.

Chance Smith and Joli Beston wrestled for the Wolves. Other team members missed action due to illness.

Smith went 2-1 with a loss to the number one ranked wrestler at 205 from Glasgow. “Chance had wins over a Miles City JV kid and Forsyth kid. Chance has made a lot of improvement this last week,” Wolf Point Coach Scott Vandall said. “He worked on the things that we have been practicing on at practice. We were very pleased to see him work things that we went over.”

Beston went 2-0 on the day. She beat a girl from Glasgow that she was worried about wrestling. “This girl beat her all the time in junior high,” Vandall said. “It was sweet revenge for us to get that win. She then beat a girl from Roundup. Joli wrestled well, as good as she could have but her never quit attitude got the job done.”

Beston also won the quick pin award with the time of four minutes and some odd seconds.

The Wolves will end the regular season in Malta this weekend.

“We will continue to work on getting better until we get to the place we want to be,” Vandall said.
